Martin announces 2027 softball roster

The Lady Pioneers won’t look the same in 2027, but Warren County believes the pieces are in place to keep building momentum.

After finishing 17-12 last spring and making another run before coming up just short in the District 6-4A tournament, the Lady Pioneers enter the new season with a veteran-heavy roster and several proven bats returning to the lineup.

Leading the way is senior slugger Ruby Denning, who is coming off one of the best power seasons in recent program history. Denning hit .395 with a team-high 10 home runs and 32 RBIs in 2026, finishing just shy of the school’s single-season home run record. Entering her senior season, she’ll also have a chance to chase the program’s career home run mark.

The senior class will also feature Kaidence Crouch, Nevaeh Duggin, Aubrey Oleksik, Alexis Ross, Kaydence Tanner and Ali Young. Crouch drove in 16 runs last season, while Duggin emerged as a key arm late in the year, posting a 6-1 record with a 1.78 ERA and 35 strikeouts across 47.1 innings.

With nearly 100 innings graduated following Ceilee Gudat’s departure, Duggin is expected to take on a bigger role in the circle. Denning could also see expanded pitching duties after throwing limited innings last spring.

Rising junior Kaydence Wiser returns after an all-district campaign where she hit .409 with three home runs while serving as one of Warren County’s most consistent table-setters at the top of the lineup. Coupled with Cortlyn Porter, another upcoming junior who drove in 16 runs last year, the duo gives Warren County some pop at the top of the lineup. The junior class also includes Stella Dunn and Presley Winfree giving the Lady Pioneers another experienced group with meaningful varsity reps already under their belts.

Warren County believes additional help could come from several younger players as well.

Rising sophomore Charley Wilson saw varsity innings as a freshman, while incoming freshman Ella Pennywell arrives after helping carry WCMS late in the season with strong work in the circle. They join sophomores Hailey Estle, Zara Laxson, Reese Reinitz and Ella Wells and freshmen Caroline Douglas, Christy Farmer, Emalyn Hutchins, Katelyn Kight and Aven King. All will have chances to carve out early roles as Warren County tries to replace three college signees from the 2026 lineup.

Breelyn Collingwood will serve as team manager.
