Sign-ups nearing end for WC Youth Football

For many future Pioneers, the journey to Nunley Stadium starts long before high school Friday nights ever arrive.

Warren County Youth Football and Cheer is entering the final week of registration for the 2026 season, and league officials are making one final push to get players, cheerleaders and volunteers signed up before the deadline arrives at the end of May.

The organization announced this week that final uniform sizing sessions will be held Tuesday, May 26 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 30 from 8-10 a.m. at the Young Men United Office, located at 103 Bernard Drive. Families who have already registered, along with anybody planning to sign up before the deadline, are encouraged to attend so uniforms can be properly fitted before orders are submitted.

League representatives said registration numbers are currently lower than usual across several divisions, creating an urgent need for more participants heading into the summer. The biggest need on the football side is currently in the D1 Division for players ages 5-7, while cheerleaders are still being sought across every age group.

WCYFC is also continuing its search for volunteer coaches for the D1 and D2 divisions. All coaches are required to pass a background check before working with athletes.

The 2026 season is scheduled to begin with practices on July 7. Preseason games and jamborees will start July 25, while official regular-season games are set to begin Aug. 15.

League officials emphasized that early registration is necessary because every athlete receives a custom-sized uniform package before the season begins. Football registration costs $150, while cheer registration is $200. Both fees include a full uniform for athletes to keep, along with insurance coverage for the season.

As part of the Southern Middle Tennessee Youth Football League, WCYFC highlighted several features it believes separate the organization from many surrounding programs. The league guarantees minimum playing time for all football players, while cheerleaders also participate in a dedicated competition event during the season.

Games are played on Saturdays throughout an eight-game regular season, with four home games and four road games. Most away trips are within an hour of Warren County. Home contests are played at Nunley Stadium through partnerships with Warren County Schools.

League officials also stressed the long-term importance of youth football and cheerleading in helping athletes prepare for middle school and high school programs by teaching fundamentals, discipline and teamwork at an early age.

Registration remains open through the end of May through the WCYFC online registration links for football and cheerleading.
