Sheriff race spending exceeds $40,000

To put the cuffs on the seat for Warren County Sheriff, one candidate has spent $33,724 over the last year.
According to Warren County Election Commission records, that candidate is Warren County Sheriff Jackie Matheny, Jr. Those monies span July 1, 2025, through July 27, 2026, and five financial reporting cycles: a year-end supplemental, first quarter, pre-primary election, second quarter and pre-general election. During that same timeframe, his opponent James Edward “Bo” Ramsey spent $7,141.
Year-end reporting (July 1, 2025, through Jan. 15, 2026):
Matheny self-donated $11,430, accepted donations totaling $2,800, and spent $9,597. Ramsey self-donated $700, accepted donations totaling $4,050, and spent $3,726.
First quarter reporting (Jan. 16 through March 31):
Matheny self-donated $9,000 and spent $5,420. Ramsey received $520 in donations and spent $471.
Pre-primary reporting (April 1 through April 25):
Matheny received $4,200 in donations and spent $7,103. Ramsey received $900 in donations and spent $250.
Second quarter reporting (April 26 through June 30):
Matheny self-donated $5,000, accepted a donation of $500 and spent $9,392. Ramsey accepted donations of $2,363 and spent $2,694.
Pre-general election reporting, July 1 through July 27:
Matheny spent $2,212, while Ramsey reported no expenditures.
