On the Road Again Show booted?

A question mark has been placed on a Warren County A&L Fair Board decision to remove Viola’s “On the Road Again Show” from this year’s lineup.

“The On the Road Again Show has been a part of our program for a number of years,” said Steven Helton, the fair’s Entertainment Director and a performer in the show. “It is known throughout the community, and a lot of people really love the show. I don’t want to lose it, not even for one year.”

Taking its timeslot are the two new pageants: Senior Fairest of the Fair and Ms. Fairest of the Fair on Saturday, Sept 12 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

Helton continued, “However, the board has decided to put these two new pageants in place, and so, at this time, the On the Road Again Show’s time slot has been consumed. It’s disappointing to some, and I understand their displeasure with the decision.”

The old idiom “It’s not over until the fat lady sings” means nothing is truly decided until the final moment. Helton says that moment has yet to come.

“As the Entertainment Director, I’m still looking for holes or gaps within our schedule so that we can put the show back in somewhere. At this time, I’ve not found that spot. I will continue to diligently search for an opportunity to restore the show to this year’s lineup.”

The fair runs Sept. 11-19.
