Friday vehicle crash

LISA HOBBS - News Editor

There was a second crash on Smithville Highway on Friday, July 10, at approximately 5:15 p.m.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Ashley Singleton, 35, was traveling inbound towards McMinnville on Highway 56 in a Chevrolet Equinox. In the area of Delores’ Market, a Dodge Dart driven by Alexis Hayes, 27, pulled into her path.

Upon entering the highway, Hayes’ vehicle struck the passenger side of Singleton’s. The impact caused the Equinox to cross the centerline, leave the roadway on the left side, travel down an embankment and come to rest facing east. The Dart continued northbound on the highway and came to a stop on the right shoulder, facing north.

Also in the Equinox were four passengers, 37-year-old Robert Lee and three unnamed juveniles.

Hayes was cited for failure to yield the right of way. No injuries were reported at the scene.

News Editor’s Note: THP’s policy requires all requests for vehicle crash reports to be made via email to its Cookeville office. Given the timing of this collision and it being after business hours, Warren County Way was sent the report Monday morning.
