Controversial video surfaces

Neighbors in the area of Thursday evening’s standoff are disputing McMinnville Police Department’s narrative regarding the death of Scott Carroll, Jr.
“From where we live, you can see directly to their house; their front door, everything,” stated Chrissy Marshall in an interview with WKRN.
She contents that Carroll walked outside with hands up, unarmed, and officers shot him.
In a press release by Police Chief Nichole Mosley, she stated, “the suspect exited the residence armed with a weapon in each hand and fired at officers.”
“This not true,” stated Marshall.
She says her and her husband watched from their window and shared a doorbell camera video with WKRN that they believed proved that officers shot an unarmed Carroll.
While WKRN reporters stated that the video was not clear, a man named Scott Wood slowed it down and brightened the area around Carroll. It was clear enough to see that Carroll’s hands were pointed in the direction of officers, not upward, and he was holding at least one black item. It was not clear enough to identify the item. As officers shot him, his arms pulled back and at least one item flew from his hand.
Wood shared that video on McMinnville TN Chatter. Warren County Way was able to obtain a copy of it.
On that post, McMinnville Police Detective Chris McCormick stated, “You can see the dang gun fly from his hand!!!!!”
“I don’t know what to say about all this,” said Mosley. “WKRN reached out to me by email. I told them that it’s not true. They ran with it anyway. There were two guns. He had one in each hand.”
When asked about the possibility of bodycam footage, she stated that she’s working on obtaining it.
Mosley added, “This bothers me. People make up what they want to see. It’s even in TBI’s press release that he shot and two officers returned fire.”
