WCMS Hosts The Inaugural Patty Kelly Cross Country Meet

Warren County Middle School cross country team made history on Tuesday, hosting the inaugural Patty Kelly Cross Country meet.

The Pioneers welcomed Dekalb County Middle School and Franklin South Middle School to Nunley Stadium for the meet. This meet gave runners the opportunity to compete while honoring the coach that started the Cross Country team at Warren County Middle School, Patty Kelly.

Warren County’s Ella Aycock led the way on the girls side, crossing the finish line first with an impressive time of 18:22.

Aycock set the pace throughout the race, ultimately claiming first and putting a strong performance on their home course.

On the boys side, Benjamin Banaszak also turned in a strong performance for the Pioneers, finishing third, crossing the finish line with a time of 14:11.

With runners from Warren County, Dekalb County, and Franklin South Middle School competing, the inaugural meet provided a competitive field while also marking the beginning of what Warren County Middle School hopes will become an annual event for them in remembrance of Patty Kelly.

Warren County Middle will race again at Warren County High School in the Tree City Invitational. The race will start at 10 a.m.
