WCMS adds to its win total

Warren County Middle School volleyball continued its hot start Monday, taking care of Cumberland County in straight sets at home.

The Lady Pioneers won 25-20, 25-11, improving to 6-2 while picking up their third consecutive victory.

After battling through a competitive opening set, Warren County left little doubt in the second. The Lady Pioneers overwhelmed Cumberland County with pressure from the service line and continued to get production from the players who have fueled their strong start.

Lyvia Wilson and Maebry Yates led a dominant serving effort with four aces apiece. WCMS finished with 12 aces as a team, with Fallon Youngblood adding two and Khloe Howell and Emma Boon each recording one.

Youngblood also kept Warren County's attack moving, handing out a team-high nine assists. Boon added three.

At the net, Ellie Dixon continued to establish herself as Warren County's top attacking threat. Dixon hammered down a team-high seven kills, while Howell added four. Yates and Youngblood each finished with one kill.

Wilson once again anchored the Lady Pioneer defense, recording six digs to lead the team. Yates added three digs, Howell had two and Dixon finished with one.

The victory was Warren County's sixth in its first eight matches under second-year coach Bethany Mesaros. After opening the season 3-1, WCMS has continued to build momentum behind aggressive serving, Dixon's presence at the net and a back row led by Wilson.

Warren County will look to keep rolling Tuesday when it travels to White County for a 5:30 p.m. match.
