Chances to train with Tree City Baseball
Tree City Baseball Academy is starting to quickly grow local roots.
What started last year as a developmental program for local youth players is already producing results on the field, and now the academy is expanding with the addition of new 13U and 14U teams.
The original 10U Tree City group has put together a strong spring. The team won a tournament championship May 2, battling through a grueling 15-hour day before bringing home championship rings. Earlier this spring, the team finished runner-up in tournaments on March 11 and March 28. Rylan Vincion was named tournament MVP during the team’s first runner-up finish, while Casen Bryson earned team MVP honors during the March 28 event.
Now the academy is hoping to continue building momentum by adding older age groups and expanding the training opportunities for local players.
Tree City Baseball Academy, led by Director Davey Britton, is a way to give prospective baseball players year-round opportunities to sharpen their skills and continue development outside the traditional school season. The academy has focused heavily on advanced instruction, skill development, conditioning and tournament competition while utilizing Warren County High School facilities for training.
Britton has also surrounded the program with familiar local baseball names.
Former Warren County pitcher of the year Tyler Hollingsworth is currently leading the 14U team, while WCHS pitching coach Derrin Rogers - another former Pioneer standout - is coaching the 13U squad.
The academy’s goal is to provide hands-on learning and advanced baseball instruction that can help prepare players for success at the middle school and high school levels in the future.
Tryouts for the new teams are already underway at the Warren County High School baseball field.
The 13U team held its first tryout Saturday and will have another session Tuesday, May 26 at 6 p.m. Players who turn 14 before May 1 of the current season are not eligible unless they are in seventh grade, while any player turning 15 before Aug. 1 is not eligible.
The 14U team held a tryout Sunday and will again Thursday, May 28 at 6 p.m. at the WCHS field. Players who turn 15 before May 1, 2027 are not eligible unless they are in eighth grade, and players turning 16 before Aug. 1 are also ineligible.
The program registration fee is listed at $175 and includes a Tree City Baseball hat, shirt and multiple group training sessions each week. Tournament uniforms and entry fees are expected to cost an additional estimated $200.
