Warren County continued to build its advantage, moving ahead 18-12. The lead forced Cannon County to call another timeout.
Warren County stayed composed down the stretch, closing the second set 25-13 to secure the victory.
For head coach Bethany Mesaros, the win was another sign that her team is beginning to move past a recent slump.
“The girls are definitely coming back from their slump that we were in. We struggle with road games, we are trying to change that culture on this team. We only have one more road game, so I am looking forward to having them push all the way through,” Mesaros said.
Mesaros said the team’s ability to respond when things are falling the other direction has been an important part for the team’s progress.
“It shows that these girls have grit. They all want it. There are times where they may fall, but they also come together as a team and push to the end,” Mesaros said.
With the remainder of the schedule ahead and eighth grade night approaching, Mesaros emphasized the importance of consistency.
“I am looking for them to just be consistent. Consistency is definitely key, I am looking for them to find open spots and move our own feet to make sure nothing touches the floor,” said Mesaros.
The Lady Pioneers will return to action for eighth grade night on Monday, Sept. 14th against Algood Middle School at 5:30 p.m.
