TVA transmission line damage causes power outage
A power outage affecting Morrison and surrounding areas on Wednesday, Aug. 19, was connected to damage involving a Tennessee Valley Authority transmission line in Manchester.
According to information provided by Caney Fork Electric Cooperative, TVA was handling the outage after a 161-kilovolt transmission line went down and a transmission structure sustained damage in Manchester, behind the cheese factory.
The damage disrupted electrical service to customers in Morrison and some surrounding communities while TVA crews worked to address the problem.
Caney Fork Electric advised customers Wednesday that TVA was handling the situation and that power was expected to be restored as soon as repairs could be completed.
A 161-kV line is part of the high-voltage transmission system used to move large amounts of electricity across the region before power is distributed to local customers.
The outage came as the area dealt with recent stormy weather and power-related issues across portions of Warren and Coffee counties.
