Swearing slated for Sept. 1

There will be a special called session of the Warren County Commission on Set. 1 at 6:30 p.m. to administer the oath of office for the recently elected commissioners and select two individuals to fill vacant constable positions.
According to County Executive Terry Bell, the commission must fill the vacancies in District 3 and District 5
“We have two constable districts that nobody ran in,” he stated. “We consulted with county attorney Robert Bratcher. He said it was our duty to actually fill those positions when they become vacant. They won’t become vacant until Sept. 1. Susie [Davenport, Administrator of Elections], says they can go back on the ballot in November, if we have a meeting on Sept. 1.”
Bell continued, “We will swear everybody in before that meeting. We can elect a chairman and set committees at that time. We can get all the business started in September.”
Any newly elected commissioner who cannot attend that meeting was instructed to stop by Bell’s office so that he may administer the oat.
Individuals living in District 3 or District 5 who would like to be considered for an open constable position can contact the County Executive’s Office at 931-473-2505.
