Student pilot injured

A helicopter crashed at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3., injuring one.
According to Warren County Emergency Management and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the helicopter landed at the airport to refuel. As it departed the airstrip, it experienced a mechanical failure and came down near the end of the runway.
The pilot, a male student in training, reportedly sustained facial injuries and was transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital.
The NTSB is leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. No further details on the mechanical failure have been released.
The crash briefly closed Warren County Memorial Airport for the emergency response.
