Warren County Schools highlighted the work of its nurses, the educational achievements of its teachers and administrators, and recognized one of its top employees during this month's School Board meeting.
Nurses stay busy
This past school year, 45,400 students at Warren County Schools were seen by a nurse.
With the 2025-26 school year ending, director of health services Sonja Walker provided an update during this month’s School Board meeting.
Of those 45,400 nurse visits, Walker reported there was a 92% return-to-class rate. There were 817 students referred to a healthcare provider.
Walker also reported that 20 students required a nurse’s skill for a procedure during the school day. She said the three most common underlying health conditions experienced by students are asthma, anaphylaxis, and seizure disorder.
Students aren’t the only ones who get sick at school. There were 814 staff visits to nurses this past school year.
Walker also said 911 was called 14 times during the school year.
There were 283 school system employees who received CPR training and there are 37 AEDs at local schools, Walker noted.

Highly educated workforce
Teachers with Warren County Schools have achieved high levels of education.
At this month’s School Board meeting, Director of Schools Dr. Grant Swallows revealed there are 538 certified employees with Warren County Schools. Of those, 14 have a doctorate degree.
Dr. Swallows provided a breakdown of the degrees held by local educators:
• 264 – bachelor’s degree
• 195 – master’s degree
• 8 – master’s degree +30
• 57 – EDS
• 14 – doctorate
