There will be an open seat on Morrison’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen in November, unless someone qualifies before noon on Thursday, Aug. 20.
According to Warren County Election Commission records, three seats are open on the Morrison board: mayor and two aldermen.
At this time, Donald Miller has qualified to run for mayor. He currently serves as alderman and vice mayor. If he runs unopposed, he will take the seat previously held by Mayor Sue Anderson, who has opted not to seek re-election. She has been in office for 16 years and previously served as alderman for eight years, making 24 years total on the board.
“I feel like we got a lot accomplished during my time on the board,” said Anderson, who says she’s going to remain active in Morrison Ruritan. “I wish Donald the best. I’m confident he’ll do a great job. I’m always here for him if he needs anything.”
In Morrison’s race for alderman, incumbent Jeannine Miller is eligible to run. There are no outstanding papers, so Miller’s seat remains up for grabs.
The three alderman races in the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen have received more interest.
According to election commission records, four individuals have tossed their hats into the ring. Qualifying are incumbents Deitra Dunlap and Keri Morton. Also eligible are Sean Logsdon and Emily Stefanick.
Kimberly Cantrell has picked up papers to run for alderman, but has yet to turn them in.
Incumbent Steve Harvey, who currently serves as vice mayor for the city of McMinnville, has announced his intention to not seek re-election.
The qualifying deadline is noon on Thursday. Withdrawal date, which is to have your name removed from the ballot, is Thursday, Aug. 27 at noon.
