Oh Sugar collective coming soon

Tomorrow is the last day for Oh Sugar at 410 N. Chancery Street, but business owner Penny Crouch has big news to announce.

Oh Sugar is partnering with Becky Collins at C&C Catering to form a new business called Oh Sugar Collective.

The new business will be located in the bail bonding building on Sparta Street next to Foutch’s Restaurant. It will specialize in all things catering.

“We’ll be able to do everything with the catering business – finger foods, the meal, the wedding cake. We’ll do it all,” said Penny.

Penny had planned to keep Oh Sugar open till June 20 but moved up the date. Friday, June 12 will be the last day she’s open on N. Chancery Street.

She says closing the store has nothing to do with lack of customers.

“Our business quadrupled when we moved here because we have parking,” said Penny. “Over on Spring Street, there is no parking. So many people told me they drove by my business and didn’t stop because there wasn’t a place to park.”

Penny says the problem is Oh Sugar became a six-day-a-week job. She’s looking to slow down and go to a more part-time schedule.

The bail bonding company will continue to operate in a small portion of the building on Sparta Street, but Penny says the catering business will occupy most of it.

Penny says the plan is to move in the building in July and then start Oh Sugar Collective in August. She will modify her Oh Sugar page on Facebook to reflect the new business name and their contact information will be available there.
