Smithville Highway is one of many areas of Warren County that is prone to serious motor vehicle accidents.
“There has been no less than eight that I know of in 14 years right here on this property,” said an employee of Nursery Supplies and Superior Wire Basket Manufacturing, a business just passed Boyd and Boyd Nursery on Smithville Highway. “Usually, they end up in that pond. The one before this one did. This one just took down our fence. They’re luck they didn’t hit our sign; the poles are made of metal. It would have done more damage than that utility pole.”
What the vehicle also struck was a mailbox at 8140 Smithville Hwy. According to that property owner, the car was traveling outbound when it veered off the road and onto his property.
“The vehicle struck our mailbox, knocking it down. It traveled along the ditch line. You can see the path it left,” he said, pointing to the vehicle’s tire marks in the ground. “The vehicle struck that culvert and went airborne. It went across the driveway and slammed into that utility pole.”
According to information released by Tennessee Highway Patrol, the Nissan Maxima was driven by Haley Wells, 20, and included a passenger: Quinlyn Officer, 25. Both were wearing seatbelts and no citations were issued.
The wreck occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. on July 10. Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park by Warren County EMS with unknown injuries.
