Man injured in 4-wheeler wreck

The driver of a 2024 Yamaha Grizzly was seriously injured today when the 4-wheeler flipped at the intersection of Crisp Springs Road and Short Mountain Road.

A preliminary crash report supplied by the Tennessee Highway Patrol states that the driver is 58-year-old Randal O. Loftis. He was traveling north on Crisp Springs Road and rolled at the intersection of Short Mountain Road. The 4-wheeler came to rest on Short Mountain Road.

How Loftis lost control of the ATV and flipped is unknown.

According to statements on scene, Loftis, who lives in the area, struck his head during the accident but was conscious and lucid. He was life-flighted from a field close to the scene.

The accident occurred at 11:09 a.m. on Sept. 25.
