A man stands accused of violating the sex offender registry for, allegedly, being around children and taking pictures of girls at McMinnville-Warren County Senior Center on Friday, July 24.
Mitchell Lee Corso, 60, was taken into custody by Warren County Sheriff’s Department and charged with violating the state’s sex offender registry, assault with physical contact and aggravated criminal trespass.
According to the warrant, Corso was banned from the senior center the previous day and returned on Friday “causing problems with attendees at the center” and he pushed a cell phone into one woman’s face and “placed her in fear of being assaulted.”
Corso is considered a violent of fender, he was convicted in 1993 for aggravated rape, and his address was listed as homeless, according to online sex offender registry information.
While restrictions placed on registered sex offenders can vary from state to state, the warrant asserts that Mr. Corso is prohibited from being at or loitering around such places, especially if children are present.
“Mr. Corso has also been seen taking pictures of the girls that are at the center,” according to the warrant.
His first court appearance was today, July 28, before Judge Ryan J. Moore. His case will be reset to August 11.
