Just A Thought
Did I shave my legs for this?
If that caught your attention, that’s good. Now, let’s get real.
Recently, an Oklahoma dad had the cops called on him for taking his young daughters into a women’s bathroom at a QuikTrip, a gas station, in Alabama.
When my daughter was telling me about a viral video circulating on TikTok regarding the incident, my first thought was “what in the world?” It was quickly followed by astonishment upon hearing all the details.
My first born went onto explain that another customer witnessed the incident and became enraged. So much so, that he began screaming and calling the man a pedophile in front of his children. He stood in the doorway of the bathroom and held the door open. In essence, blocking the man from leaving and exposing the family to everyone who walked by.
The dad, a man named Tyler Brodsky, was traveling back to Oklahoma from Florida. They stopped and his children needed to use the restroom. He took them into an empty women’s restroom rather than taking them into the men’s.
“I’d rather do that than bring two little girls into a men’s bathroom full of grown men and dirty stalls,” said Brodsky in a caption with the TikTok video, which has been viewed 13 million times as of Thursday, June 18.
The dad helped his daughters wash their hands as Mr. Irate called the police. The daughters were crying. A female QuikTrip worker stepped in, shut the door and apologized to Brodsky and his daughters. When the officers arrived, they determined that Brodsky did nothing wrong and asked Mr. Nasty to leave the business.
I was lucky enough to have two children: a boy and a girl. I faced dilemmas like these while we were out in public. Taking my son into the women’s bathroom always felt a little wrong, but what other choice did I have? Men’s bathrooms have urinals. I, for one, didn’t want to walk in on a man, zipper down and doing his business. At least the women’s restroom had all stalls.
So, I determined that it was OK for a mother to take her children, regardless of gender, into the women’s bathroom – at least until my son was old enough to go by himself, while I hovered outside the door like a stalker watching suspiciously any man that came and went. I might have been a little overprotective. Much like these intelligent officers, I believe it is perfectly fine for a dad to take his daughters into an empty women’s bathroom and not into the men’s restroom for the same reason I mentioned above.
My thought: Karens, as they have been dubbed by society, have the same personality traits in common. They are rude, demanding and entitled. They live their lives just waiting for the opportunity to exhibit those attributes. If we were to test them, I bet they would have a couple more traits in common – a low IQ and even lower self-esteem. If you know one, you have my condolences.
