Engaging youth in meaningful experiences

There will be a Youth Worship Night at Warren County A & L Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m.

“As entertainment director for the Warren County A & L Fair, I have always prided myself on the diversity we provide,” said Steven Helton. “As a Christian I am extremely proud of knowing part of that line up is focused on worship and praising God. This year we are excited to bring back Worship in the Barn on Wednesday night.”

This meaningful experience will be provided by John Templeton.

“We’ve had a service every year on Wednesday night. A couple years ago, we had it in the Cattle Barn and it was well received. Last year, they had scheduled a Bluegrass band to be in there all week. This year, I called early and he managed to get us in. This will be a service for our youth, high school and middle school students. We will have a worship and then, a speaker.”

Templeton continued, “This will be a Wednesday night alternative for churches that may be cancelled on Wednesday night of the fair. This will give us an opportunity to get together, have a time of worship and time in the Bible. There can be a lot of negative and a lot of things to get into in the fair. This will provide a positive place for Christians to come together and encourage one another and have a time of fellowship as a community.”

Helton says this event will be among other Christian entertainment events for visitors to the fair to enjoy.

“John Templeton has been working with the fair for years,” Helton stated. “I can remember the first time I booked him on the backstage as Christian Rap. Believe it or not, he was actually good. Now, many years later, he is in charge of organizing a youth devotional in the cattle barn. He does an amazing job, and we are excited to have him in our line up along with more Christian entertainment at the grandstands and throughout the village.”

Youth Worship Night was a late addition and will not be in this year’s Warren County A & L Fair Book.
