A man charged with attempted second-degree murder was in court on Tuesday before General Sessions Judge Ryan J. Moore.

Roy Lee Cotten, 49, will be represented by the Public Defender’s Office. He was arrested on Monday, Sept. 13, after allegations that he choked his 18-year-old son unconscious during a verbal altercation that turned physical. His case was reset to Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.

Resolved on Criminal Court Trial Docket:

Jason Dacey was sentenced to 48 hours and 11-29 on probation for aggravated domestic assault. He must attend 12 hours of in-person anger management and undergo an alcohol and drug assessment, forfeit weapons and have only peaceful contact with the victim. A consecutive sentence of 40 days was handed down for violating the terms of probation.

Michael Huff must serve 30 days and 11-29 on probation for simple possession/casual exchange. He must pay $900 and court costs and undergo an alcohol and drug assessment. A concurrent sentence of 30 days and 11-29 on probation was handed down for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marcus Martin was sentenced to 11-29 on probation for theft. He must pay restitution and was ordered to stay out of Walmart.

Baylee Layne Norrod must serve 11-29 on probation for perjury. They were also handed a concurrent sentence of 11-29 on probation for coercion of a witness. Judicial diversion was approved.

Resolved on Criminal Court Arraignment Docket:

Elexia Payton Byars must serve 30 days for violating the terms of probation.

Keldrick Jerome Cox must serve 10 days for contempt of court.

Damien Chase Glenn Grosch must serve 60 days for violating the terms of probation. He must undergo an alcohol and drug assessment within 30 days of release, as well as have probation extended by six months.

Emily Ann Ledbetter must serve 30 days for violating the terms of probation. She must undergo an alcohol and drug assessment within 30 days of release, as well as have probation extended by six months.
