At least three were injured in yesterday’s motor vehicle crash on Smithville Highway, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary crash report.

Jordan Gibbs, 20, was traveling southbound on State Route 56 in a 2003 Nissan Murano when he struck a trailer being hauled by Eddie Reed, 38, in a 2004 Chevy Silverado. The impact caused Gibbs’ vehicle to spin into the northbound lane. The Murano then struck a northbound 2013 Nissan Altima driven by Nathan Torres, 19.

Torres, Hernandez and Gibbs were injured.

A fourth vehicle was struck by a tire that flew from Gibbs’ vehicle. Mary Roller, 32, who was driving a 2015 Toyota RAV 4, was uninjured.

The Altima came to a final rest on the right shoulder of the roadway. The Silverado and the RAV 4 came to rest in the entrance of Dollar General. The Murano came to rest in the northbound lane of State Route 56 on its side.

The Nissan Altima had one passenger, a 20-year-old Alan Hernandez.

Lifefight responded and airlifted one. However, it is unknown who was airlifted and who was taken to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital for treatment.

Charges are pending against Gibbs and Torres.

The collision occurred on Monday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m.

News Editor’s Note: THP’s preliminary was vague regarding the possibility of underage passengers.
