Emphasizes simplicity, meaningful giving and community impact – that’s the model behind the Power of 100 Women, a local organization that selected McMinnville Children’s Museum to received $16,100.
“I just want to thank everyone so much for tonight,” said Linday Powell, who began the dream of establishing a local children’s museum in 2024. “I didn’t expect this at all. We are still so new to this community. I promise you that we will take care of this money and make all our dreams come true. I have dreamed of this since I’ve had my son. I love math. I love science and I’d like to think I’m good at art. This could be life changing for our future generations and create wonderful leaders for our community.”
The nonprofit organization is seeking to garner an initial $350,000; funds needed to purchase five acres of land in Westwood and take the project all the way to site development. Once completed, the facility will be a three-story state-of-the-art STEAM discovery center aimed at offering a positive and nurturing environment to promote education and development for the children of Warren County and surrounding counties.
“We were beyond excited to finally color in our donation board that we had made,” said Lindey Adams. “We were up against two other groups selected to receive the $16,100 check. To our surprise, they announced that the McMinnville Children’s Museum had won.”
The Power of 100 Women is an organization that brings together women from all walks of life to support local charities. By harnessing the power of women coming together, it aims to have a greater impact than any one individual alone. Along with fundraising efforts, each member commits to donating a minimum of $100.
At this point, the organization has a total of $26,100. It has until May of 2028 to raise the remaining funds needed to purchase the property.
