Peace Garden, giving heart

Chris Seals has been recognized by the Warren County Board of Education as Volunteer of the Month for Warren County Schools.
Seals dedicated countless hours at Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary School and provided the physical labor needed to install a Peace Garden.
“The Peace Garden is a task taken on by Bobby Ray that was funded through a grant last year,” said Director of Schools Dr. Grant Swallows. “The picture is great, but I’ve been over there a couple times, and it really doesn’t do it justice. It is fantastic, because it has improved that whole area.”
The improvement was through the hard work of Seals, who outgoing Principal Monti Hillis and incoming Principal Sadie Newbie wrote about in a letter read aloud by Dr. Swallows.
“It is with great pride and heartfelt appreciation that we recommend Chris Seals for recognition as the Warren County School’s District Volunteer. Over the past five months, Chris has quietly and selflessly given countless hours to Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary. Not because he was asked, not for recognition or compensation and not because he has a child or grandchild attending our school, but simply because he saw ways in which he could help and choose to serve. Chris provided the physical labor to transform an unused outdoor area into a beautiful Peace Garden where our students and staff can find a welcoming place to read, reflect and enjoy. Beyond this project, he has spent countless hours trimming, landscaping, spreading mulch, painting, assembling equipment and completing numerous projects throughout our campus. What makes Chris’ service so special is the heart behind it. He sees something that needs to be done and willingly steps in. Always with a positive attitude and a desire to make Bobby Ray better for our children. Much of Chris’ work happens behind the scenes, but his impact can be seen throughout our campus every single day. His generosity is a beautiful reminder of what true community service looks like. We are incredibly grateful for Chris and wholeheartedly recommend him for this well-deserved recognition.”
Dr. Swallows added, “I don’t think he knew he was getting this tonight. So, they have surprised him. I’m going to invite Chris up and name in the Volunteer of the Month for Warren County Schools.”
Seals was presented with a certificate that recognized his dedication and volunteer spirit.
