On display during the 15th annual Great BODIES! Show this Saturday will be a classic car with a heartwarming story behind its restoration.
“Some cars just have a special spot in your heart, and this is one of them. This 1935 Ford Coupe was a project piece that turned into one of the most beautiful custom cars that one could ever lay their eyes on,” stated Brittany Pedigo, the granddaughter of Steve and Faye Breedlove, who shared the car’s history.
In 2020, Faye was notified about a steel body 1935 Ford Coupe project piece located in Manchester. Faye came by it honestly with her love for cars. Steve has 14 show cars.
“It was truly something that they enjoyed together. She enjoyed all things beautiful, and with her designing skills, customizing this car came to her so easy. When she was young and growing up in Ohio on Lake Erie, she had seen a 1935 Ford Coupe, and it had always stuck in her mind. She knew one day she would own one.”
Faye purchased the frame and handed it over to Everett’s Automotive. The long restoration process began. From a frame arose a custom 1935 Ford Coupe with a 350 small block V8 engine, 350 turbo transmission, power steering, and a fully functioning back glass so the driver can talk to the passengers in the rumble seat.
“This is a fully restored, chrome plated suspension car. The paint and body are by Everett’s Automotive with some love and care from Garey Steakley, ceramic coating by Luxe Detailing, and custom upholstery by Jamestown Rod Shop.”
Breedlove passed away in October 2025. She never got to see the complete restoration, a vehicle the family has named “Perfy,” which is Faye’s nickname given to her by her longtime friends, Judy and Larry Martin.
“Last year my grandmother left this earthly home and entered into her heavenly home. However, she did get to see the exterior of the car with detailing chrome pieces before she moved. If she could have seen the finished product with the custom upholstery, running, and driving, she would have been so proud of her show car. We plan to dedicate showing this car in her memory for many years to come.
Great BODIES! Show is being held at Champion GMC Chevrolet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The show, organized and hosted by Blaine Wilcher, Families in Crisis staff and many volunteers, is a fundraiser for the organization.
