It’s city election time

Offices up for grabs in McMinnville, Morrison

If you’re interested in making a difference in city government, qualifying begins later this month for seats in McMinnville and Morrison.

Three alderman seats will be up for grabs on the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The seats are currently held by Keri Morton, Steve Harvey, and Deitra Dunlap.

Morton has already said she plans to seek re-election.

“I look forward to another term if the citizens re-elect me,” said Morton. “I’ve learned a lot and hope to contribute more to the city. I feel like we are in a good place at present.”

In Morrison, the mayoral seat is up for election and Mayor Sue Anderson has already announced she will not run again.

“Morrison has been a blessing to me, and I hope I’ve been a blessing to Morrison,” said Anderson, who has served 16 years as mayor and 24 years in all on the Morrison Board of Mayor and Aldermen.

There will be two Morrison alderman seats available — those held by husband and wife Donald and Jeannine Miller.

Anyone interested in the seats in McMinnville and Morrison can pick up qualifying papers beginning Monday, June 22, at the Warren County Election Commission, 201 Locust Street.

Qualifying papers must be returned by Thursday, Aug. 20 at noon with signatures from 25 registered voters in the district in which you are running.

The city elections will be held Nov. 3 on the same ballot with Tennessee governor and other races.

The election for seats in the towns of Viola and Centertown will be held in 2028.
