Warren County Administrator of Elections Susie Davenport released the following public notice:
“Regarding the news stories, social media posts, etc., that are circulating about voting machines changing voter's selections--the place that that happened in uses touch screen machines If you touch the wrong place, you can make a selection that you did not intend to make. Of course, all voting machines will allow you to change that selection before casting your ballot.
“The MicroVote Infinity voting machines that we use in Warren County are NOT touch screen. They are hardwired to the buttons. You have to press a literal button to make your selection. Our Voting Machine Technicians test ALL of our machines after they program them to be sure they make the selection they are intended to, and the Election Commissioners review them before they are sealed.
“Also, there are safeguards in place to prevent a voter from casting a ballot for someone that they did not mean to select. From the signs all over the place that say, "If you have a question ask BEFORE you press the red Cast button." to the physical print out that the voting machine prints for them to review their selections before they press the red cast button. The Voter always has the opportunity to check their selections. Their selections turn green when the button is pressed. There is a Voting Machine Operator always available to the voter to question anything they want to ask as far as how to make their selections and cast their ballot. If they press the button to select the candidate they did not mean to vote for, they can press the physical button and deselect them. Again, the Voter has the opportunity to double check their selections before they cast their ballot.”
