Ag News and Notes - June 22
Last Call – By now, I hope the vast majority of those holding a Restricted-Use Pesticide applicator card have attended one of the many recertification sessions offered throughout the past year. If you have not yet completed the recertification process, your final opportunity will be Monday, June 29. The last class will be held in the Magnolia Room, beginning at 6:00 PM. Attendance at this session will provide the three continuing education credits required for recertification. If you have any questions, please contact the Extension Office at 931-473-8484.
Fungicides in the Garden and Orchard – Many of you have read or heard over the years about the benefits of using fungicides on vegetables and fruit trees. I recently came across a handy chart that outlines active ingredients, trade names, and important notes on some of the most commonly used fungicides. Keep in mind that fungicides are protectants, not curatives. In other words, they must be applied—and reapplied according to label directions—before disease infection occurs in order to be effective.
