WCMS wins another 3-set thriller
The Lady Pioneers went on the road Tuesday and survived two tight sets against White County before completely taking over in the third, rolling to a 25-23, 23-25, 15-3 victory.
The win improved Warren County to 7-2 and continued an impressive trend for coach Bethany Mesaros' squad. WCMS is now 3-0 in three-set matches, also winning deciding sets against Westwood and Stone Memorial.
There wasn't much drama in Tuesday's finale.
After trading two-point wins with the Warriorettes in the opening two sets, Warren County dominated the third from the start. Khloe Howell and Ellie Dixon each put down two kills in the final set as the Lady Pioneers quickly put the match away.
"I am proud of them for pulling themselves together to finish the game," said Mesaros. "They are starting to find some rhythm and continuing to learn each other. When they focus and work together as a team, they have so much potential. We just have to find that focus in the beginning and carry it all the way through each set."
Howell led Warren County with seven kills while adding three aces. Dixon finished with four kills and four aces, including three aces early in the match. Lillyanna Reagan added three kills.
Fallon Youngblood continued to fill up the stat sheet, finishing with 14 assists, five digs, three aces and two kills.
On the back row, Lyvia Wilson once again led the way. The Lady Pioneer libero piled up 13 digs, more than twice as many as any other WCMS player.
The victory was Warren County's fourth straight as the team continues to grow in the second year under coach Mesaros. The Lady Pioneers are back in action Thursday when they take on Avery Trace at home. Action will begin at 5:30 p.m.
