Pioneer of the Week: Sept. 20-26

Each weekend, The Warren County Way will be selecting a Pioneer of the Week. That honor is sponsored by R3 Logistics. Be on the lookout for the Pioneers of the Week throughout the 2026-27 school year.

Senior Addi Steakley picked a pretty good time to start heating up.

With the regular season winding down and Warren County preparing for postseason play, Steakley put together one of her best offensive stretches of the season to help the Lady Pioneers pick up two convincing victories early last week and finish the week 3-0 overall.

Steakley scored four goals and added an assist in wins over Spring Hill and DeKalb County, earning her The Warren County Way's R3 Logistics Pioneer of the Week honor.

Her big week started in Monday's 5-0 home victory over Spring Hill. Warren County struggled to turn opportunities into goals early, but once the Lady Pioneers broke through, the floodgates opened. Steakley finished with two goals and an assist as Warren County scored five times to pull away.

One night later, the senior was right back in the middle of another offensive explosion.

Warren County found itself trailing DeKalb County 1-0 early in the second half after going scoreless through the opening 40 minutes. The deficit seemed to wake up the Lady Pioneers, who responded by scoring six unanswered goals over the next 20-25 minutes.

Steakley scored two of them.

The four-goal stretch pushed Steakley to seven goals on the season and continued what has been a strong senior campaign for one of Warren County's most experienced players.

Her impact has gone beyond finding the back of the net. Steakley has been a steady presence in the Lady Pioneer midfield, helping create opportunities for a Warren County attack that has proven capable of winning in several different ways.

Her presence was pivotal in another thriller Thursday night when Warren County took down Columbia in PKs. While the senior didn’t score, her impact has been a calming presence for a team that has found ways to score late goals in tight matches and step up its defense to protect slim leads.

But in two blowouts last week, when the Lady Pioneers simply overwhelmed opponents, one of Warren County's seniors suddenly looks like she's finding another gear. Steakley will be right in the middle of it all if the Lady Pioneers can find postseason success this fall.

Before Steakley and the Lady Pioneers turn their attention to the district tournament though, Warren County has unfinished business in the regular season, starting with Tuesday’s senior night battle with Notre Dame.
