Each weekend, The Warren County Way will be selecting a Pioneer of the Week. That honor is sponsored by R3 Logistics. Be on the lookout for the Pioneers of the Week throughout the 2026-27 school year.
Cameron Redmore, WCHS Football
Some football players look for daylight. Cameron Redmore looks for somebody to hit.
The Warren County sophomore made that abundantly clear Friday night in Chattanooga, when he got an opportunity to carry the football against Howard. With the Pioneers threatening to score in the third quarter, Redmore took a direct snap on 3rd-and-1 from the Tiger 6. Instead of looking for the easiest route to the end zone, Redmore lowered his shoulder and went looking for contact.
He picked up the first down, then got another opportunity from the Howard 2. This time, Redmore got escorted into the endzone by the Hustlin’ Tigers, who wanted no part of the bruising back at the goal line. His score put the finishing touches on Warren County's sixth consecutive touchdown drive in a 41-18 victory over Howard.
The sequence was a perfect example of what has made Redmore one of the Pioneers' most exciting young players this season. The sophomore has developed into one of Warren County's leading tacklers while bringing the same aggressive mentality to his opportunities on offense.
“He's a great example of what we're looking for in what we want our players to play like,” said Pioneer coach Eric Belew. “He plays fast and physical. He relentlessly pursues the ball on defense and runs the ball extremely violently on offense.”
Redmore has earned meaningful varsity snaps throughout his sophomore season, becoming a regular contributor on defense. He currently leads the team in tackles with 92 stops, including 14 more Friday night. His willingness to pursue the football and deliver contact has helped him emerge as one of the team's most productive defenders despite being two years away from graduation.
Against Howard, Redmore was involved in one of Warren County's biggest defensive plays of the first half. With the Tigers threatening to score and facing third down, quarterback Fletcher Williams dropped back to pass but was met by pressure from several Pioneers. Canaan Curtis, Braxton Jordan and Redmore converged for a sack that pushed Howard into a fourth-and-long situation.
Redmore was 19.5 TFLs this year, including four sacks.
While his defensive contributions have made him a fixture on the field, Redmore has also given Warren County another physical option in the backfield.
His touchdown against Howard wasn't his first of the season. Redmore previously reached the end zone against Livingston Academy, but Friday's score came on a direct snap as the Pioneers continued finding ways to involve different players in their rushing attack.
Redmore finished with six yards and a touchdown on three carries against the Tigers. His opportunities came as Warren County rushed for 233 yards and scored touchdowns on its first six possessions, ending a three-game losing streak that had threatened the team's chances of finishing with a winning record.
For Belew, the sophomore's emergence is exciting not just because of what he's doing now, but because of what he could become with two more seasons to develop.
“When you can put a kid like that on film knowing that he's got two more years with us after this year is very exciting,” said Belew. “He brings a lot of energy and excitement to our team.”
