Odineal earns All-American Status again

At some point, there’s going to be no more tournaments and no more medals left for Jakoby Odineal to win.

Until then, he’s going to keep expanding his trophy case and making history.

The Warren County standout added another milestone to an already remarkable wrestling career this week, becoming the only wrestler from Tennessee to earn All-American honors at the USA Wrestling Junior National Duals in Milwaukee.

Competing for Team Tennessee against many of the nation's best wrestlers, Odineal went a perfect 7-0 in Greco-Roman, capping the tournament by finishing undefeated over two days of competition. The flawless performance earned him All-American status - nothing new to him - and set him nicely as he begins freestyle competition next.

While the 7-0 run was nice, it wasn't exactly a surprise.

A year ago, Odineal also went undefeated in Greco-Roman competition at the National Duals. This year, he simply went back and did it again.

His road to All-American honors began with three victories on Day 1 Wednesday before he returned the following morning needing four more wins to complete the sweep. Odineal never stumbled, winning his first match of Day 2 before adding victories over Missouri opponents and one by forfeit to set up the clinching match. When the final whistle blew, the soon-to-be Warren County senior had completed a another perfect run and etched his name among the nation's elite.

The accomplishment is another addition to a résumé that is quickly becoming one of the most decorated in Pioneer wrestling history.

Odineal is already a two-time TSSAA state medalist, earning podium finishes in each of the last two seasons while qualifying for the state tournament three consecutive years. During the 2025-26 high school season, he captured a Region 4-AA championship, finished runner-up at the Section 2-AA Tournament and returned to Franklin for another top-six finish at state.

His success hasn't been limited to the high school season.

Wrestling year-round with Ground Zero Wrestling Club, Odineal has piled up championships in multiple styles on the mat while consistently representing Tennessee on the national stage. He’s been an All-American across the country, never hesitating to travel great distances to test himself against the best.

And the result seems to stay consistent: Odineal is one of the best.
