Perfect Week For WCMS Pioneers

The Warren County Middle School Pioneers traveled to Tullahoma East and returned home with a 47-20 victory.

The Pioneers defensive effort allowed them to get in front early in the game although offensively, they struggled in the first quarter leading, 10-3. Warren County followed its game plan on the defensive side, limiting Tullahoma East’s opportunities and controlling the boards to prevent second-chance scoring.

Head coach Isaiah Grayson mentioned Warren County rushing their possessions early in the game, but the defensive side of the game was solid throughout the game.

“We had a slow start to this game as we were rushing with the ball too much. However, defensively we were pretty solid all night,” Grayson said. “These guys followed the game plan and executed defensively.”

After halftime, the Pioneers found a better rhythm offensively, attacking the basket and applying pressure on the Tullahoma East defense. The Pioneers were able to take advantage on the offensive side as Tullahoma East had two players with 4 fouls going into the third quarter.

“We continued to dominate the boards and limit teams to one possession,” Grayson said. “We played much better in the second half offensively and were able to attack to get their guys in foul trouble.”

Brody Chisam led the Pioneers offensively with 17 points, 9 of those points came in the second half. Cooper Murphy reached double figures, contributing 10 points.

The Pioneers end the night with a 47-20 victory, also ending the week perfect at 2-0. The Pioneers will tip off next Tuesday after the girls against Tullahoma East.
