Boys Elementary PotW: Oct. 26-31

The boys 3-5 grade basketball league delivered another week of exciting finishes, big scoring performances and teams making moves in the standings.

Irving College stole the spotlight with an overtime thriller against Hickory Creek, Morrison continued its climb with two more victories and Centertown bounced back from a tough loss to remain near the top of the championship race. Meanwhile, West kept its perfect record intact and Dibrell remained right on the Wizards' heels.

The Warren County Way is recognizing one player from each of the county's nine elementary schools for the week of Oct. 26–31.

Bobby Ray – Jayden Terry

Terry provided a bright spot for the Stars during a difficult week. He scored two points against West on Monday before delivering a team-high 10 in Thursday's matchup against Morrison. Terry's ability to find the basket helped Bobby Ray get off to a strong start against the Eagles, with the Stars building a 13-10 lead after the first quarter before Morrison rallied for a 38-23 victory.

Boyd – Heath Judkins

Judkins led the Broncos with four points in Thursday's matchup against West, providing half of Boyd's scoring through the first three quarters. The Broncos struggled to get their offense going against the unbeaten Wizards, but Judkins continued battling and finding opportunities to contribute as Boyd worked to stay competitive.

Centertown – Colt Bratcher

Bratcher came through when the Warriors needed him most in Monday's 34-28 victory over Hickory Creek. He scored a game-high 16 points, including six in the fourth quarter, and knocked down two important free throws to help Centertown hold off the Hawks. Bratcher also scored 10 in Thursday's 44-9 victory over Eastside, finishing the week with 26 points across two wins.

Dibrell – Jeb Culwell

The Wildcats had last week off, but Culwell has been a key contributor to their 6-1 start. He opened the season with 20 points across two games, scoring six against Centertown and 14 against Boyd. Culwell also delivered 10 points against Irving College, including a first-quarter 3-pointer and four clutch free throws in the fourth quarter. His scoring has helped Dibrell remain one of the top contenders in the boys 3-5 grade league.

Eastside – Kaden Tate

Tate gets the nod for the Bulldogs this week. He scored four points in Thursday's matchup against Centertown, providing nearly half of Eastside's offense in the 44-9 loss. The Bulldogs are still searching for their first victory, but Tate continues to give Eastside a presence around the basket as the team works to turn its season around.

Hickory Creek – Po Haywood

Haywood was a force around the basket for the Hawks, scoring eight points against Centertown before pouring in 16 against Irving College. His performance Thursday helped Hickory Creek build a 14-6 halftime advantage, and he delivered the basket that tied the game late in regulation. The Hawks ultimately fell 26-25 in overtime, but Haywood finished the week with 24 points and showed why he's one of the league's toughest interior matchups.

Irving College – True Lusk

Lusk helped engineer one of the week's most memorable comebacks. With Irving College trailing Hickory Creek by eight at halftime Thursday, Lusk scored seven points in the third quarter, including a 3-pointer, as the Tigers surged ahead. He finished with a team-high 11 points in the 26-25 overtime victory, helping Irving College overcome a difficult first half and pull out a dramatic rivalry win.

Morrison – Trey Hawkins

Hawkins has been on a scoring tear during Morrison's recent resurgence. He scored 15 points in Monday's 44-6 victory over Eastside, getting all of them in the first half, before pouring in 19 in Thursday's 38-23 victory over Bobby Ray. His 34 points across two games helped the Eagles extend their winning streak to three and climb back to .500 after a 1-4 start.

West – Princeton Scott

Scott has been a difference maker on both ends of the floor for the unbeaten Wizards, and his performance against Boyd Thursday was one of his best of the season. The talented guard scored 11 points, reaching double figures for the first time this year, while continuing to be a lockdown defender. Scott has formed a dynamic backcourt with Cam Chadwell, giving West a dangerous combination of scoring, playmaking and defensive pressure. His emergence as an offensive threat adds another weapon for the Wizards, who improved to 7-0 with a 38-10 victory over the Broncos.
