Boyd looking for future Broncos, Lady Broncos
Future Boyd Christian athletes will soon get its chance to earn their spots for the 2026-27 school year. Tryouts are scheduled over the next two weeks for the Boyd Christian high school basketball and volleyball teams as the Broncos and Lady Broncos begin building toward the 2026-27 seasons.
The Boyd boys basketball team will hold tryouts Tuesday, May 19 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Boyd gymnasium. The tryout is open to boys entering grades 8-12 next school year. Players are asked to bring basketball shoes, water and what the program called “a competitive mindset.” Those needing more information can contact coach Dustin Curtis at 931-224-1714.
On the girls side, the Lady Broncos will host basketball tryouts Monday, May 25 at JK Stanley Gymnasium. The tryout is open to any girl entering grades 8-12 next school year, including home-school students.
Boyd enters the offseason coming off another standout year under coach Tim Page. The Lady Broncos captured a NACA national championship after piling up another 26-win season, continuing one of the most consistent runs in the TSIAA over the last several years. Over the last six seasons, Boyd has accumulated 151 victories, three district titles, two district tournament championships and four runner-up finishes in the TSIAA State Tournament.
The Lady Broncos are expected to bring back several pieces from the championship squad while also looking to develop the next generation of contributors as the program continues its pursuit of state and national success.
Volleyball players will also get their opportunity soon as Boyd prepares for another season on the court. The Lady Broncos will hold high school volleyball makeup tryouts June 1 from 8-10 a.m.
Boyd volleyball has continued rebuilding its program depth in recent years while seeing participation numbers rise throughout both the middle school and high school levels. The program has emphasized growth, development and creating more opportunities for younger players to step into expanded roles moving forward.
