Shelbyville Road makes paving list

The poor condition of Shelbyville Road has it scheduled for paving in the upcoming months.
“We are starting in the spring to pave Shelbyville Road from the bridge - back this side of Old Wells Road - all the way to Herman Lance Road, which is almost to the county line. We are paving seven miles. It’ll be about $750,000,” stated Road Superintendent Josh Roberts.
Funding for the project will be taken out of a $1.1 million grant from the state of Tennessee that the department recently secured.
“We will start ditching and clipping this winter,” stated Roberts. “Paving still start in the spring, I’m thinking April. It is a rough road. There are a lot of bad spots on it. We are going to have to drag in a lot of binder and dig up a lot of places before we can pave.”
Roberts also stated that he believes the department can pave up to $3 million in 2027, with $2 million in state aid and another $1 million after Warren County government passes its fiscal year budget for 2027-28.
This information was provided during a county Highway and Bridge Committee meeting. A list of roads to be considered for paving in 2027 has yet to be released.
