Cold case murder suspect in court tomorrow

Paul Alvin Adcock is slated to be before Judge Larry B. Stanley Jr. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Adcock, 83, stands accused of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the Dec. 23, 1996, death of his mother. Lela Adcock lived on Rebel Hill Street. Her body was found after McMinnville Police Department responded to a request for a welfare check.

The case went cold and remained that way for 22 years until a joint investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the McMinnville Police Department, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, and the Office of the 31st District Attorney General led to Adcock’s indictment by a grand jury on Dec. 4, 2019.

Tomorrow is slated to be a review hearing. Adcock has had 15 review hearings since 2023, with the last on Jan. 14 of this year. Warren County Way called the Circuit Court Clerk’s and was told that tomorrow’s hearing was to set a trial date or reschedule the case for a later date.

Adcock was taken into custody on Dec. 4, 2019. His bond was set at $57,500, which he posted and has been out awaiting the conclusion of his case.
