Welcome to the Dalt
Whether it was the deafening noise of the Tree City Mafia or the army of talented hoopers operating from the home bench, teams used to get introduced to the Dalt when the ball went in the air. Now, they'll know the moment they walk in the door.
Charlie Dalton Gym, affectionally referred to as "The Dalt” over the last few seasons, got a facelift on the gym facade this week. Now everybody will be welcomed to the Dalt the moment they reach the doors.
Co-Athletic Director Phillip King said the new look is another step in enhancing the atmosphere surrounding Warren County athletics.
"We are really excited about the new entrance and what it will add to the gameday experience for whomever it is that's playing," said King. "Mr. (Chris) Hobbs, myself and coach (Anthony) Lippe have been in conversations about it for about three months now. Mr. Hobbs has had a great vision for Warren County High School, whether it's academics, athletics or improvements campus-wide.
"This vision resulted in us being able to get this sign in a similar fashion to some of the other new additions like the WC over the front of the school and the neon WC over the field house, along with many of the new aesthetic improvements throughout our school. So far we have had nothing but positive reactions and many people have reached out about how great they think it looks."
King added that Cook's Signs handled the project.
"We think they did a really good job with it," said King. "We are excited about another new addition to our campus and hope that there will be many more to come."
The updated entrance gives Charlie Dalton Gym a more distinct identity and provides another visual reminder of a venue that has become one of the most recognizable home courts in the area. From basketball to volleyball and countless school events in between, visitors will now get their first look at the Dalt before ever stepping inside.
