Silver and Gold band playing Sunday

Tennessee’s oldest community band will play a free concert this Sunday, June 7, to commemorate America’s 250th birthday.

The one-hour concert will take place at First Baptist Church in McMinnville and begin at 4 p.m.

The concert will feature music from eras throughout U.S. history, including:

• Pre-Revolutionary period
• Revolutionary War era
• Civil War era
• Songs representing immigrants
• World War II era
• Jazz and rock ’n’ roll
• Patriotic selections

The Silver and Gold Band has roots that trace back to the 1880s.

The band is currently directed by Chuck Moore. He took over last year from Mike Chilcutt, who continues to play with the band.
