Distinguished Young Women launches locally

A new local scholarship program, Distinguished Young Women (DYW), is officially launching in Warren County offering high school junior girls a unique opportunity to earn college scholarships, develop life skills, and showcase their talents.

Founded in 1958, Distinguished Young Women is the oldest and largest national scholarship program for high school girls. The newly formed DYW of Warren County program will soon begin accepting applications for its inaugural class of participants.

The local program will culminate in a showcase on April 3, 2027, at Warren County High School. Participants compete in five categories: Scholastics (25%), Interview (25%), Talent (20%), Fitness (15%), and Self-Expression (15%). Scholarships will be awarded to local winners to help fund their higher education goals.

The winner of the DYW of Warren County showcase will advance to the state finals, with the opportunity to move on to the national finals in Mobile, Alabama.

High school junior girls graduating in 2028 who reside in or attend school in Warren County are eligible to participate. There is no cost to enter.

An informational meeting for interested students and parents will be held on Nov. 11 at 5 p.m. at Warren County High School.
