Rock Island State Park needs your help. There will be a TN Serves Clean-up the Caney Fork from 10 a.m. to noon. Tasks will include cleaning up litter along the Caney Fork River Gorge between Twin Falls and Great Falls. The area is fairly strenuous, rocky, and wet so please plan accordingly. Meet at 82 Beach Road in Rock Island. Register for the event on Rock Island State Park’s website.

McCulley's Amazin' Acres of Fun opens in Sparta. It offers a variety of seasonal activities. Its Sunflower Festival is on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Sept. 20 from 1-7 p.m. McCulley’s is located at 2857 Old Kentucky Road. A joint McMinnville Parks and Recreation Committee and Building and Grounds Committee meeting will be held at 6:45 p.m. to consider a proposal for the Benjamin Hill monument. Meetings are held at city hall.

A McMinnville Safety Committee meeting will meet at 6:55 p.m. to consider renewal of contract with Axon for five years for the McMinnville Police Department. Meetings are held at city hall.

McMinnville Board of Mayor and Alderman will meet at 7 p.m. One action item is on the agenda: a resolution to purchase a 2027 Ford F250 for the city’s Fire Department. Meetings are held at city hall.

Adult Children of Alcoholics and Families Support Group at Smartt Assembly of God, Ages 18+, from 4-5 p.m.

American Legion Post 173 will perform an official flag retirement ceremony starting at 5 p.m. Rock Island State Park, pavilion two. The public is invited to attend. Food and drinks will be provided at no charge.

New Men’s Ministry Meeting at McDonald’s, starts at 8 a.m. 

National Public Lands Day Hike at Rock Island State Park begins at 10 a.m. Meet at the Tennis Court parking area across from the campgrounds for a 1.95-mile hike touring the upland, predominantly oak-forest habitat at the park. This hike will take roughly two hours, has some hills and uneven footing so be sure to bring sturdy shoes and appropriate clothing, and water. Register for the hike on the park’s website.

Junior Auxiliary Sip ‘n Savor at 6:30 p.m. Offered by McMinnville Junior Auxilliary, the event is a wine, food tasting and artisan event in Downtown McMinnville on Main Street.   

Cedarwood Pumpkin Patch Opening Day. They will be open from Sept. 26 to Oct. 31. Opening day hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pick your pumpkin, make your way through mazes, visit petting zoos, jump on the jump pads, enjoy live music and bonfires by the pond (an additional cost and includes hotdogs, marshmallows, chips, drink), slid down the new 100foot super slide, and much, much more. General admission is $15 for ages 3 and up. Babies 2 and under are free.

More Than Imagined Life Could Be A Dream Fundraiser for The Pregnancy Care Center of McMinnville at The Warehouse, 105 Donnell St., starts at 5 p.m.

Warren Arts presents Potatoes at Park Theater Sept. 25, 26 and 27. In 1998, in a small town, mysterious fumes shut down the local high school. The EPA was called in and ultimately declared it a case of mass hysteria – a figment of the imagination that caused over 100 students and teachers to experience real symptoms. Potatoes tells the probably, possibly, maybe “true story” of what really happened. Tickets on sale now.

Twisted Cedars Haunted Woods - a new haunted murder mystery escape haunt – Conjuring of the Six Sisters kicks off on Saturday, Sept. 26 and continues every Friday and Saturday in October, open Halloween night. Join the Warren County Prevention and Intervention Coalition for our September meeting on Friday, September 25 at 11:00 AM at CHEER Mental Health. This month is our membership meeting. Rather than a guest speaker, we will take time to look at what the coalition has been working on this year, the impact that work has had across Warren County, and where we are headed next. It is a good chance to see the full picture in one place and to hear how members and partners fit into it. Cedar Grove Fire Department’s Haunted Trail begins at dark and goes until 11 p.m. New this year will be a corn maze. Admission is $15 per person, while children ages 5 and under are free. No flashlights or cell phone usage is allowed on the trail. Each paid ticket gets one glow stick. Additional ones cost $1. This event is a fundraiser for the department. Haunts continue every Friday and Saturday in October, with the final haunt on Nov. 1. Directions: take Sparta Highway, turn right at The Landing (formerly Gribble’s Landing) and follow the signs. Autumn Street Fair will take place on Main Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual event is an exciting event put on by Leadership McMinnville. Expect fun, food, fellowship, and lots of great shopping.
