Citizens Police Academy

Ever wondered what it is like behind the scenes of law enforcement? Here is your chance to find out. The McMinnville Police Department is inviting community members to participate in our Citizen’s Police Academy this October.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to foster better communication and understanding between citizens and local officers through hands-on education, interactive topics, and open dialogue.

What You Will Experience:

Learn how criminal investigators process crime scenes

Ride along on patrol with a police officer

Fire Police Department weapons during Range Day

Get a lot into SWAT team procedures and narcotics investigations

Receive a comprehensive notebook explaining police procedures

Plus, much more!

How to Apply:

Space is limited, so be sure to turn in your paperwork early. You can download the application, release of liability form, and view the course curriculum directly on the department’s website or pick up an application at the Police Department.

Classes are offered Oct. 19 through Oct. 23, from 5-8 p.m.

Curriculum:

Oct. 19 – Introduction, Tour the 911 Center, and tour Warren County Sheriff’s Department

Oct. 20 – Criminal Investigation/ Mock Crime Scene

Oct. 21 – Drug investigations, K9 Unit and Trauma Response/Stop the Bleed

Oct. 22 – Patrol Division/ Mock Traffic Stops and Crisis Intervention Training

Oct. 23 – SWAT and Building Clearing

Oct. 24 – Gun Range and receive certificates
