Celebrating the U.S. Constitution

Constitution Week is a U.S. observance held Sept. 17-23 to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, in Philadelphia. During this week, Americans are urged to learn about the Constitution, its history and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

The U.S. Constitution is widely regarded as the world’s oldest written national constitution still in force. It was drafted in 1787, ratified in 1788, and in operation since 1789. It is also regarded as one of the most influential and enduring charters of government in history. Amended more than 25 times, it has evolved to address changing societal needs while preserving its core framework.

In recognition of Constitution Week, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) has placed a display table at Warren County Administrative Office Building on Locust Street.
